DZRJ-FM, branded as RJ 100 is a music FM radio station in the Philippines owned by Rajah Broadcasting Network, Inc. The station's studio is located in Jupiter St., Makati City, while the transmitter is located in Brgy. San Roque, Antipolo City. The station plays a unique mix of music from the 1950's to contemporary, including American, British, and Filipino music. The music is mainly soft rock, but also includes pop, soul, R&B, disco, and 50's and 60's hits.
History
Around 1986, during the Philippines' historic People Power Revolution that ousted the iron rule of President Ferdinand Marcos, Veritas 846 was bombed & June Keithley, owner of Veritas 846 said Radyo Bandido. DZRJ-AM had henceforth been recast in a public service format for its new identity as Radyo Bandido DzRJ-AM. It had been set up to flourish in the FM band as RJ 100.
Around 1999 to 2001, it renamed itself to The Hive 100.3 playing alternatives & classic rock music. Its format was similar to the current RJ Underground Radio 105.9. However it lasted for 3 years because of its ratings. In 2002, it changed back to RJ 100. It began bringing news from VOA & BBC similar to DZRJ-AM.

DWET, branded as 106.7 Dream FM, is a music FM radio station owned and operated by the TV5, in Mega Manila, Laoag City, Metro Davao and in General Santos City. Its studios and transmitter are located in 762 Quirino Highway,San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City.
Before DWET became Dream FM in 2004, it was known as The Big Mix Kool 106 from 1992-1999 & relaunched from 2002-2004. Kool 106 was launched several weeks before ABC 5 (now TV5) was launched. Kool 106 was a high-rating pop music station that rivaled other radio stations. One of their programs was "106 Best Songs of the Year" was the only year-end countdown that plays all the best hits within the year, unlike other radio stations of that time that played only the top 20 songs. Between 1999 & 2001 it became 106.7 Kool, that plays mostly foreign song especially R&B with a very few OPM hits. In 2001, the station went off the air for one month and completely changed its format. It became known as Ritmo Latino RIO 106.7, the first radio station in the country that played Latin music. The format lasted for barely one year and reformatted as Kool 106.
KOOL 106 was conceptualized in late 1991 when ABC 5’s Edward Tan took in George Boone (BM, XB, RT, EI, LS, KISS, ZOO) as the station manager for their FM radio network. With ABC 5 a fledgling organization that was to rise in February 1992, Tan wanted to make sure that his FM radio affiliate would similarly make a dent in the broadcast circles, similar to what he envisioned his TV network to do. They were able to collar the 106.7 mhz in the FM band, then an empty frequency that was not being used.
KOOL 106 was designed to become an adult contemporary station featuring the hits of the 70’s to the 90’s. It was an innovative, bold and creative approach towards radio programming as no pop radio station dared to do so. While there were a couple of stations that may have done this (Mellow Touch, Love Radio, DM 95.5, WRock), these were not pop stations. KOOL was the first to breakthrough with this approach in programming. Other pop radio stations featured a day or two of oldies (Magic, RX, WRock, RT, Mellow Touch) but they never dared to put this in their regular programming interspersed with the current hits.
Skeptics at the start didn’t believe the program would fly. Boone, though, had a different notion. He felt that the peak of radio listenership happened in the 80’s and that those who grew up in the 80’s were looking for a station that will give them the identity they can relate to. Similarly, current pop hits weren’t as big as before, thereby necessitating the inclusion of various oldies in the playlist. Similarly, it was done to synergize the market of ABC 5 since their primary target market were the young adults aged 21 and above. Hence, the BIG MIX tag.
The station armed itself by securing the top veteran jocks who knew their music. Program Director was Bob Novales (The Bug of LS and DMZ), one of the most knowledgeable personalities in the music business. Also with the original cast were Eric Eloriaga (Eric Caine of RT and KISS), D*ckie Aracama (D*ck Reese of KISS and RT), Sonny Zarate (Sonny Zee of RK and KISS) and neophyte Arvi Villamarzo (The Raven). Newscasters were Marivic Sanz (Victoria of ZOO) and Eliza Gotico (fresh graduate from Assumption). The Raven eventually became the merchandising voice over of ABC 5 for a couple of years. A few months after, veteran jocks Joel Domino (KY, RT, CT) and Martin Gill (RT) joined the stable. Newcasters Gidget Alikpala (who became an ABS-CBN newscaster), Candace Giron (who became an ABC 5, NBN 4, GMA 7 and UNTV 37 newscaster) and Ultima (later to join RT) were also added in the roster.
DWLA, operating as RJ Underground Radio 105.9, is a music FM station owned and operated by Rajah Broadcasting Network, Inc. in Makati City, Philippines. The station's studio is located in Makati City.
As LA 105.9
It was known as LA 105.9, the first all-rock station under Bright Star Broadcasting Network, Inc., initially established in the 1992 to provide Pinoy rock music either amateur or professional. In 1998, LA transformed into electronic dance music format. In late 2000, LA ceased its transmission on-air.
As Blazin' 105.9
After 3 years, this station aired initially as Blazin' 105.9. It was owned and operated by Philippine Hip Hop Awards organizer Empire Entertainment (also the owner of DWUR) and their former studios was located at Club Cello (now RJ Bar) in Makati City.
Blazin' played all kinds of rap, hip-hop and R & B whether current, old school on Sundays and underground hip hop. This was the only FM station in the Philippines that aired the 2004-2005 Season of the NBA games courtesy of another media partner Solar Sports. This station is an old concept of Power 108 FM way back in 2001 and in 2005 it is the second revision of Project: Hip Hop. [citation needed]
After the station was sold to Rajah Broadcasting Corporation in late 2006, the station became inactive from January 2007 to July 2007. [citation needed]
As Underground Radio
Another station started broadcasting with relatively low power transmission in mid July at 105.9 MHz, identified as RJ Underground Radio UR 105.9 which has a format quite similar to the old DZRJ-AM and even LA 105.9, an all-rock station which broadcasted in the 1990s before Blazin' took over. The station has become a child station of RJ 100. Like its "parent", it also plays three songs in a row featuring a modern rock, classic rock, and a Pinoy rock track, except for some special programs on Saturdays and Sunday Rock Jam. However, they don't usually feature disc jockeys on weekdays; only public address systems were used, although in recent months they started to use on-air talent. On Sundays, veteran DJ's from the old RJ Rock of Manila were heard on Sunday Rock Jam. Within a few months, RJ UR improved its transmission to 25,000 watts.
Also, legendary rock DJ Dante David ("Howlin' Dave") made his return on FM radio and to the RJ family as well after a stint with the defunct Rock 990 (now Nueve Noventa), with his Sunday afternoon programme RJ Pinoy Rock and Rhythm until several health reasons caused his death on May 2008.

105.1 Crossover (DWBM 105.1 MHz Metro Manila) is a music FM station owned and operated by Mareco Broadcasting Network, Inc. in the Philippines. The station's studio is located at Sta. Mesa Heights, Quezon City, while its transmitter is located at Brgy. San Carlos, Binangonan, Rizal. The station is also available via streaming audio on their website.
History
Debut on AM
The Mareco Broadcasting Network, Inc. made its debut in the radio industry in 1963. Its first AM station DZBM, originally served only as a promotional venue for Mareco's own Mabuhay and Villar Records. It also held the local license to produce and market foreign music labels from a peak of over a hundred major international recording companies. During this time, DZBM played the latest and widest variety of popular music and was consistently no. 1 in the surveys, contributing significantly in popularizing radio as a prime entertainment medium in Manila.
Rebranding as Power 105
With its increasing listenership, MBN eventually opened DZBM to commercial advertising. For enhanced quality, the station moved from AM to the FM band and became known as Power 105 BM FM at 105.1 MHz in 1985 competing with WXB 102 (now 102.7 Star FM). It played New Wave and Disco music until 1991 when Power 105 BM FM shut down.
[
Crossover Era
From this time, the Network underwent several changes in management, as well as programming, with the end result being 105.1 Crossover which changed to Jazz station competing directly with Citylite 88.3 (now Jam 88.3) and Joey @ Rhythms 92.3 (now U92). over a decade, jazz enthusiasts both young and old have made 105.1 Crossover their place on the radio. From smooth jazz and rhythm & blues, samba to new standards. The programming is spiced up with special shows and segments including Understanding Bossa Nova hosted by premier Filipino bossa nova artist Eileen Sison and The Dave Koz Show hosted by Grammy-nominated saxophone player Dave Koz that taken their listeners to the heart of smooth jazz and highlight exceptional musical artistry.
Expansion
MBNI then realized its plans for expansion with the opening 99.1 Crossover (DYBM-FM) in Bacolod City on February 1997, 90.7 Crossover (DYAC-FM) in Cebu on September of the same year, and 93.1 Crossover (DXLR-FM) in Davao on June 1999, bringing the Crossover concept to the southern area of the country. The Manila broadcast is now also heard live over 105.1 FM in Baguio City. The Crossover sound is also webcast worldwide in real time on their official website.

On June 19, 2007, at exactly 9:00 pm, 103.5 was again reformatted, changing their name to 103 1/2 Max FM.
Seven of Manila's best disc jockeys (Joe Schmoe, Paul Reno, Jay Latin, Dick Reese, Joshua, Martin Gill and Little David) set out to form a radio station that would best the much-established and well-known old hands of the industry. The new station occupied the frequency, studios and equipment formerly handled by the defunct standards music station DWCS (103.5 CS, then owned by Global Broadcasting System) and changed its call sign to DWKX. K-Lite started airing on October 23, 1995.The first DJ to go on the air was Joe Schmoe; his first song was Pride (In the Name of Love) by U2. Within a few months, it became the favorite radio station of the young professionals and more outspoken listeners.

In August 1996, WRR regenerated itself into a mainstream pop music station in response to growing trend of "masa" radio or FM radio for the masses launched by 102.7 Star FM a year earlier. This format plays not only love songs, but also dance and rock hits. Recently though, whenever its on-air personalities would introduce the station, they have dropped the call letters (WRR) and would just say "Alalalalam mo na yan, 101.9 For Life! (You know it, 101.9 For Life!)(Around 2005-2009) and Recently, "Bespren"101.9 For Life! (Friend,101.9 For Life!),. Tambayan 101.9 (tambayan1019.com)

History
Before MBC purchased and was granted the operational rights to 101.1 MHz, the frequency operated as Kiss FM 101.1 (call letters DWKS) owned by Makati Broadcasting Network with studios located at 14th floor, Insular Life Building, Ayala Ave. cor. Paseo de Roxas Makati Central Business District. From 1984, it had the Contemporary Hit Radio format, competing directly with 99.5 RT. It changed its name to Kiss Jazz 101.1 & transformed into a smooth jazz format from 1988 - 1990 competing directly with Citylite 88.3 (now Jam 88.3) before it quietly went-off the air.
During 1992, MBC launched the show business gossip and music station, 101.1 Showbiz Tsismis. At that time, its callsign was DWST, which stood for "Showbiz Tsismis" (Showbiz Gossip). 101.1 Showbiz Tsismis had a mix of show business news and the latest music hits, and even employed reporters with a reporting style similar to that of local AM stations.
DWRT-FM, broadcasting as 99.5 RT, is an FM radio station owned and operated by Real Radio Network Inc. in The Philippines. Its studio is located at Unit 906-B, Paragon Plaza Building, EDSA corner Reliance St, Mandaluyong City and transmitter is located at Palos Verdes Executive Village, Brgy. Seven Hills, Sumulong Highway, Antipolo City, Rizal, sharing the same site of 93.9 iFM.
As 99.5 RT (1976-2006)
DZTR changed it's call sign to DWRT-FM, moved to the 99.5 Mhz frequency and branded itself as 99.5 RT in September 1976. Its studios were located for most of its existence on Ayala Avenue in the central business district of Makati, at one time in Pacific Bank Building. It was then originally owned and operated by Trans-Radio Broadcasting Corp. (now GVM Radio/TV Corporation, currently operating Nueve Noventa, Cebu's Y101 & Butuan's Majik 97.5, RT's original sister station). with owner Emilio Remedios Tuason, who also became one of the deejays (his on-air name was "ET"), until personal problems forced his retirement from the station in 1987.
99.5 RT became famous for playing the hits three months ahead of most other music stations because its programming philosophy did not pander to the masses nor cater to the lowest common denominator. It was more concerned with bringing the latest hits to the audience as soon as they were released by the artists. One of the most remembered examples of this was in the early 1980s when RT broke in the song "More To Lose" by the obscure English duo, Seona Dancing (one-half of which is the now famous lead actor and comic of the British television hit series The Office, Ricky Gervais). The station kept everyone guessing about the identity of the song by announcing the title as "Medium" and done by the artist "Fade", two words which were actually descriptions of the song: medium tempo with an ending that faded out.
The station's old logo from 1987 to 1993
Over the years, RT became popular with different slogans such as "The Rhythm Of The City" (1976–1996, 2008–present), "Red Hot Radio" (1983–1988),"Source For The Best Hits" (1996–1998) and "Your Music Authority" (1998–2001), From 2001 - December 18, 2006 before it was rebranded, 99.5 RT's slogan was "The Most Hit Music".
RT was also home to some of America's popular hit countdown shows like American Top 40 and the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40. In the early 1980s (specifically 1983-1984), RT also ventured into the music-video business. As one of the pioneer music video shows in the Philippines, "Rhythm Of The City" which aired on Tuesdays at 7:30 pm on then government-owned MBS Channel 4 (now NBN Channel 4), showcased then ground-breaking videos from artists such as Men At Work, Naked Eyes, Real Life, Michael Jackson, and some of the best acts in North America during a time when then-fledgling MTV had not yet established its presence in the Asian region.
It is also known for its oldies shows , 24K Friday playing the hits from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
It was also known as the first radio station in The Philippines to have ventured into having a home on the World Wide Web, launching its bulletin board in 1995.
In June 14, 1996, Trans-Radio sold RT to Supreme Broadcasting Corporation (now Real Radio Network Inc.) and moved to the Royal Match Building. Under new management, the station tried its best to maintain its upscale and niche-market on-air identity and programming format, unlike many other stations which reformatted after being sold.
On April 1999, it moved to its present location at the Paragon Plaza Building, along EDSA, Mandaluyong City.
Over the next few years, 99.5 RT's sound slowly became similar to other CHR radio stations in Manila. By 2004, most of its veteran DJs had left and were replaced by younger ones. During the period, programs like Up and Coming (a new music countdown show, which later split into two: RT Top 10 Biggies (daily) and the RT40 (weekly)), On the Decks (a dance show hosted and with live dance music mixes by Dj David Ardiente), RT Sunday Sessions (where performed live in the radio station's studio), The Get Up and Go Show with Joe Schmoe, Alex and Lellie, Dinner and Drive Show (formerly known as Da Brainy Bunch), and The Playground with Da Kid, Lexi Locklear and BB Fred were developed. Beginning in 2004, RT put up an annual concert event called, "Ripe Tomatoes", featuring up to 30 OPM bands playing back-to-back on a single night.
In 2006, a corporate decision was made to rename RT to "HiT FM" starting January 2007. Thus, at midnight on December 18, 2006, the station signed off as the First iteration of 99.5 RT. For the next two weeks, the station played non-stop music, with occasional liners from the DJs, and teasers about the new station. On January 1, 2007, it officially signed on as HiT 99.5.
Somewhere in the middle of all that twisting and turning of the radio dial rests 97dot9, the newest hang-out of music fanatics the country over. Home Radio was born into the airwaves in September 1998, and not even a whole year later, the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas and the Radio Research Council got out of their huddle and pronounced us part of the top ten radio stations in Metro Manila.
Being fully automated, Home Radio has no disc-jockeys, only canned spiels and liners. This includes time checks, song sponsorships and other announcements. The station, which projects a female image, launched the first fully-automated 24-hour disc jockey ''Jackie'', last October 16, 2006; which is being voiced by Lannie Chan.
Despite being a non-entity FM station, Home Radio delivers live hourly news updates from newscasters Louie, Rafi and Network Newscaster Andie. All Newscasters are female. An hourly traffic report is also aired courtesy of an outside source, trapik.com, which also provides traffic reports to other top-notch Manila FM stations.
Veteran radio DJ Rick Spade, Frederick S. Billano, is the male Imaging Voice and Production Specialist. Marius Ericsson Llobrera is Production Supervisor and Imaging Script Writer of Home Radio. Ronnel Estanislao is the Music Librarian. Armed with state-of-the-art digital broadcasting technology surging through the airwaves at 25,000 watts 24 hours a day, Home Radio clearly warms the hearts of the citizens in Radioland.
